The Global Awareness Programme (GAP) is an educational initiative by GIFT.ed, in partnership with the National Universities Commission (NUC), Nigeria.

This immersive, extracurricular experience is designed for Nigerian university students like you, who want to think beyond the classroom and engage with the real-world forces shaping tomorrow.

The programme features two complementary core components that provide both knowledge and practical application: a virtual learning journey and an optional student-led project.

Virtual Learning Journey

  • 8-week self-paced learning on the GIFT.ed platform

  • Core modules delivered in short video chapters (5 – 10 mins)

  • Each chapter includes reflection prompts, quizzes, and recommended readings

  • Two live webinars featuring international experts to enhance learning context

The INSPIRE Project

  • Optional mini-project titled INSPIRE Nigeria: Global Challenges, Local Solutions

  • Encourages application of programme learning to real-world contexts

  • Structured across three phases: Research, Design, and Impact

  • Guided by GIFT.ed’s proprietary “INSPIRE” framework with templates and tutorial support

The INSPIRE Project

The optional student project gives you the chance to apply what you have learned to a real issue you care about, while developing key research, problem-solvinga, and communication skills. The project is structured to guide you step-by-step using the INSPIRE framework.

Incentive Programme

To celebrate and encourage engagement, the programme includes a tiered incentive scheme. All participants who complete the core learning will receive formal recognition, while top-performing students in the project will be eligible for exclusive opportunities.

Virtual Learning Journey

All participants who complete the virtual learning journey will receive:

  • A certificate of completion

  • A transcript detailing modules completed

The INSPIRE Project

All project participants will receive the opportunity to connect with global youth organisations to enable you to extend your learning and participation beyond the programme.

Shortlisted participants, as determined by our expert evaluation panel, will be featured across the GIFT.ed and NUC networks and receive additional prizes.
